forensic science lecture

It has been a while since I blogged- that's primarily because my laptop disallows me from accessing blogspot easily, so i couldn't care less.

Anyway, back to the first of many simultaneous entries.

A forensic pathologist from the Singapore General Hospital was invited to give a speech on forensics last wednesday during lecture. Armed with an open mind and an empty stomach, I took my seat in the auditorium. And I knew that it was going to be a really unbearable two hours when a singaporean girl with thin ruler-like legs donning short shorts sat next to me.

As anyone would expect, there were an array of pictures of corpses, limbs, blood and wounds splattered across the white screen. I thought I was able to handle the gruesomeness, but No, I was wrong.

There was this case where a female corpse was cut open revealing a medium sized dead foetus (in deep purple), with human organs being pushed in an outward direction because of some black substance located at the abdomen. The story was this: this woman died because of internal bleeding (the dark matter which was tissue btw). She actually had twins because the tissue, whichw as formed outside the womb had foetus-like characteristics. But medical complications occured and the tissue bled, creating infections and bleeding.

I was...freaked out completely- am still a little shaken by it as I write this entry.
Apart from that spooky case, I was very much entertained by the slideshow of pictures. Am not into bdsm, necrophilia or wtv, just that I never seen such pictures and found it rather cool.
